Tommy’s Geo Trip to Kazakhstan, May 2024
Westlakes Engineering Ltd out on site for a week in Kazakhstan providing geotechnical support and in-country workshop for a renewable energy consultant on a proposed wind farm project. Thomas Walker (Senior Geotechnical Engineer) worked alongside local drillers providing guidance and best practice advice to improve ground investigation, soil and rock logging techniques, data collection and drilling site management in accordance with Eurocode 7 and international design standards.
Some unique site conditions and risks had to be assessed, notably the 37 degree air temperature and curious wild horses. Last picture of unusual fault breccia.
