Hinkley Point C will be the first new nuclear power plant in the UK in 20 years following an agreement between the government and EDF Group. The 430 acre site will generate enough electricity to power nearly 6 million homes.

Westlakes was engaged by the ONR to provide civil engineering support and specialist assistance to ONR site inspections at the Hinkley Point C site, particularly relating to the main areas of interest below:

• Verifying that the site geology is in accordance with design assumptions
• Oversight of earthworks trials, specifications and compliance with arrangements
•  Oversight of concrete mix trials, mix designs, specifications and compliance with arrangements
