Westlakes’ Professional development day
Yesterday we held our Westlakes Engineering Ltd (WEL) professional development day for our technicians, graduates and young engineers from our Manchester, Cumbria and Lancashire business units who are advancing towards professional review. It was a great day, designed and delivered by our very own experienced leaders within the company. For many of those who attended it was their first time attending a WEL Professional development day. Cassia Whitham, one of our apprentice engineers said:-
“This was my first time attending a WEL professional development day and what a great day it was. Topics covered included contract law, the way a business like WEL is managed and operates, the good practice in the selection of construction materials and the experience, career highlights and lessons learnt from Doug Dadswell (a renowned structural engineer who has recently retired).
As well as the learning, I enjoyed speaking to those from different areas of the business and finding out more about what they do. The whole day was well planned, and the food was great! The venue at EKMin north Preston was a well-suited place for the day, providing a bright and comfortable space for us to relax and concentrate (also having lots of fun with the games and slide!). I feel privileged and grateful to have had the opportunity to attend and be a part of the diverse community within WEL. I’m looking forward to applying the learning in my job. Roll on the next WEL Professional Development Day!”
